3. Unzip the ME_Corporate_Win7_8.1_10_11.0.0.1194.zip. And there are 3 folders you can find: ME_SW_MSI, MEI-Only Installer MSI, and WINDOWSDriverPackages.
4. Open the first folder ME_SW_MSI and click SetupME.exe to start install the Intel Management Engine driver.
Follow the installation to install it.
5. After the Intel ME driver installed, you should restart your computer because the chipset-based driver need to reboot to take effect.
And then you can goes to device manager, the PCI Simple Communication Controller disappears, it means the right PCI Simple Communications Controller drivers is installed. So it worked.
Note for Windows 7:
If it is the Windows 7 PCI Simple Communications Controllers driver missing, you need to install a Kernel-Mode Driver Framework 1.11 (KB 2685811) at first, and you can download it from this page.
Easier Way for Windows 7:
If you are using Windows 7, and don’t want to install the framework, you can also download this file: MEI_ALLOS_6.1.0.142_PV.exe. After that, you can double-click to install it directly.
The MEI_ALLOS_6.1.0.142_PV.exe is an Intel Management Engine driver for 5 series chipset-based desktop boards. And it can fully supports Windows 7, Vista and XP 32 bit and 64 bit.
Follow these steps, the Intel Management Engine will installed successfully. And it will fix PCI Simple Communications Controller not recognized error.

May 22, 2014I have a hp mini 210-2145. It had windows 7 home edition 32bit on it but I formatted it and put windows 7 professional 64 bit on. I cant get the wifi to work. I finally got the regular plug in to work but still no wifi. I have went to the driver site and installed both chip sets. and downloaded a bunch of the internet drivers listed on the network drivers list. After installing a bunch of them i noticed the system scan. It detected that i had a 802.11b/g/n WLAN. Thats the irst one on the site so i redownloaded and instaled it and it still isnt working. I tried checking the Modem under Network Adaptors and found there is a yellow mark next to 'WAN miniport pppoe'

I have tried udisabling and re-enabling wan miniport but no luck....Tried un-installing it and check all other settings in Internet options but no luck. How to restore it to factory settings if that is my last resort ?

Apr 23, 2013Recently got a hand me down laptop. My brother did a reinstall of Windows 7 and formatted the hard drive before handing it over.
Its having issues - I'm trying to play FM 2013 but keep getting crashes during games. When I looked in Device Manager there were a load of yellow !. Most I solved by just right clicking and updating the drivers. The 540M graphiics were not showing up a all - so I had to download these from the website myself - but now have the Nvidia centre - which seems to work.
But still the SM bus controller still shows a yellow ! - and the game continues to crash, sometimes it forces a system shutdown.

Nov 9, 2009So I just got my Studio XPS 1340. Everything is good. Just installed Windows 7(clean install). But, there is a problem with the ethernet when the system resumes from sleep/standby.
I didn't test ethernet with vista. There seems to be no problems with Wifi resuming from sleep. Is this just a Windows 7 driver problem? I updated the bios, drivers, basically everything I can find I updated.
Still happening.
Also turned off 'Turn this device off to save power' option.
Any ideas?

If I leave my M4400 idle with Windows (Vista Ultimate 32-bit) locked and the screensaver on for any length of time (e.g. 20 minutes), then the network card goes into power-saving mode even while on AC power, reducing the connection speed from 1Gbps to 100Mbps. I can see this because the colour of the LED on the port changes. The reduction in speed causes a brief disconnection from the network. When I unlock Windows, there is another brief disconnection as it reverts to 1Gbps, and this causes instant messaging applications to log out.
If I go to the Link Speed tab on the network card's properties in Device Manager and force it to 1Gbps instead of Auto Negotiation, it warns me that power-saving features will be disabled, but then I don't experience the problem and it never disconnects. 'Reduce link speed during battery operation' is unticked, but this should not apply to AC power anyway. I've tried upgrading the driver to 9.50.14.2, A01 (released on 24/02/2009) but the problem still happens.
Does anyone else experience this?
